The SRC President, addressing the General Assembly on Sunday, 22nd September 2019. His first address of the state of the SRC for that matter.
According to H.E Raymond Korbla Otivi, after his assumption into office on the 29th of May this year, he made a couple of assurances and promise. Among which is the Popular school fees saga.
In his submission, he together with the elected SRC executives on 22nd and 23rd May,2019 they were invited to central handing over and fees negotiation in Tamale. “As the name suggests, CENTRAL HANDING OVER, they never had a chance to have a thorough discussion on the school fees, hence the term fees negotiation.” He said.
Addressing the General Assembly, he stated so many opportunities he had to utilize as the SRC President, writing petitions and meeting other stakeholders concerning this school fees issue. Since he has facts and documents supporting his plights. He also stated that, his administration is committed to resolving every issue concerning students and his foremost promise, the school fees reduction but in an amicable way since the administration remains the highest authority of the school.
ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR
According to him, there has been a provision of free shuttle service for the freshers. Adding to that, he the SRC President of UDS Navrongo campus has become a key figure at the national level in regards to student affairs.
According to him, a good news coming from the government of Ghana through the ministry for Business development, of which UDS Navrongo campus has been selected as one of the pilot campuses for a new initiative called the CAMPUS PITCH.
This will give student entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their businesses, ideas and the winner or finalist will be given a seed amount by the ministry to invest into their businesses. Thus, this is to help eliminate unemployment in this country at a long run.
Further on, the SRC President has set up a seven member public relations unit headed by the PRO and a 3 member advisory committee to bridge the gap communication gab and administrative gab.
So far in his tenure,he spelt out some challenges currently facing the SRC. They include lack of control over assets, improper communication by management to student leaders and the unavailability of funds to run the day to day affairs of the SRC.
His address ended with questions from the general assembly and answers given by him.

UDS NAVRONGO CAMPUS PUTTING ON A NEW FACE- INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTS MANIFESTING
On Tuesday 14th of January, 2020, the SRC president took upon his WhatsApp status expressing his joy on the ongoing renovation and the “massive infrastructure development”.
His excellency the SRC president Raymond Oviti is nationwide known for his fight for the school fees reduction. This was mainly because, the intended purpose of some slashes in the school fees were not realized.
Through series of dialogue and displeasure of students through demonstration, the administration came into terms with the leadership of the SRC.
The SRC Public relations officer, Mr Ishmael told the student populace through a circular stating that, the administration asked for a little time to improve upon the infrastructures and other pressing issues of concern.
KING WORDI BUSINESS CENTRE has opened a new shop just beside kokotu. They have in stock various soft drinks and bottled water.
True to their words, the administration has started with and ongoing developments as they have promised. Among the ongoing renovation include the NH1 lecture halls and completion of the school library.
The SRC president is hopeful that, the developments as they have promised, will be completed before the end of the second trimester as the auditorium, FAS block and others are in line.
FORMER ARSRC PRESIDENT CONTESTS FOR KUMASI METRO NASPA PRESIDENT.
Former Ashanti Regional Students’ Representative Council(ARSRC) President, for the 2013/2014 academic year submits forms at the desk of the National Service Secretariat(NSS) concerning his intentions of running for NASPA President(Kumasi Metro).
Kwame Jnr. Essumang is a selfless, dedicated and determined young man who seeks nothing save working harder in making our world better in any way he can. His altruistic attitude can be traced way back to the time he was the house prefect in Prempeh College through to the time he became the President of the ARSRC.
He became the first house prefect at the local SRC level to contest and also win the seat of Presidency at the Regional level. His unparalleled style of selfless leadership earned him an award as the Outstanding Regional Executive of the 2013/2014 year group.
Following up to he gaining admission at the University, he established himself as one of the best wordsmith, public speaker and debater. The university still celebrates his skills. As a member of the Debate Society, Kwame Jnr showcased an unflagging zeal as member of the Debate Society of the UDS-Navrongo Campus. His drive to work wholeheartedly won him the affection of many as he was voted for as the Public Relations Officer and later President of the Debate Society in two different administrations.
He dreams of a nation and a world that is not deficient of the power of a better synergy; people forgoing race, tribe, religion, culture and other forms of differences, working hand in hand to move the nation and the world as a whole to a better level. A scaffolding approach where everyone achieves more for being part of the team.
He believes that his dream is achievable and sees his aspiration to being the NASPA President a steppingstone in making it a reality.
With the kind of experience he has under his sleeves in leadership, Kumasi Metro NASPA will be the beacon of Ashanti Region and Ghana should the good people of NASPA Kumasi Metro vote him into power.

UDS 22ND MATRICULATION CEREMONY
The joyous moment, knowing you will be officially admitted into a university. This was written boldly on the faces of all freshers as the gravitated towards the school auditorium with high speed (laughter).
On the 12th of October, 2019, the class of 2023 were officially matriculated.
This ceremony has actually taken place on all UDS campuses.
Before the ceremony began, Ecowas Hall and Savannah hall were with full energy as they walk the resident freshers of the hall. As a matter of fact, it was the first time seeing Ecowas Hall and Savannah Hall having ” JAMA” together. It was all love.
As early as 8am the Principal together with his subordinates processed in. After the procession the school anthem was sung
A prayer was offered by the various religious groups on campus, the Christians and the Muslims.
The Deans and their associates were also introduced.
Meanwhile, the registrar was represented by the campus officer.
Before the matriculants sworn the oath, the principal delivered a speech.
Upon his delivery, he congratulates the matriculants on the day.
He stated that, the matriculation marks the end of admission and the formal admission into the school.
You need to know the reason for coming to school and the need to achieve that purpose. He said.
In his submission, all admitted candidates were admitted upon certain merits. Addressing the congregation, this year had an increase in application, a total of 19,183 of which 9, 479 was admitted.
Prof. Luguterah, the Navrongo Campus principal went on further that, out of the total 9,479, 51.9% were males and 48.26% were females. This has shown a significant increase in female applicants and admission.
This admission include student into the faculty of mathematical sciences, faculty of applied sciences and faculty of earth and environmental sciences.
Furthermore, he ensured the matriculants that, security and safety on campus will be regulated to ensure the safety and lives of students on campus. Addressing the issue of the campus’ lighting system.
On the issue of sex for grades which was aired few days ago, showing some lecturers indulging in the acts, of which he the principal strongly stand against. He stated clearly that the management of the school will not take it lightly with any senior member of the university seen or caught indulging in such act. We further cautioned the matriculants to be very careful,as not to fall victim.
Before ending his speech, he announced that, the school would be renamed very soon as it attain autonomy.
He advises the matriculants to be good students and welcomes them to the UNIVERSITY FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES.
As at 11am the matriculation ceremony was brought to an end after which the campus officer sworn every faculty into the school.
